The Dualplover bossmen Lucas and Swerve said we can choose how much we can charge you for tickets so we’ve taken this opportunity to spearheaded a new music revolution, like when Radiohead let you choose how much you paid for their record but A LOT more interesting. Be a part of the most important thing to happen to music since the invention of Garage Band!

Firstly here’s the full line-up and all the details about the party:
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=110342565667848
(make sure to get a ticket cause it’s $25 on the door)

We’re offering you many flexible payment options where you can trade your goods, service, skills, digital or physical dollars! You can pay with good old fashion ca$h at Repressed Records (356 King Street, Newtown). We’re giving you the option of paying half to the Bed Wettin’ Bad Boys and half to your other favourite band. So if you wanted to you could give $5 to BWBBs and $5 to Whores. As DRUNK ELK are coming all the way from Tasmania Repressed Records will also be selling tickets on their behalf. $10 straight in their pocket. EVEN BETTER, if you buy Drunk Elk’s CD “ Pieces Of People We Have Known” or any Dualplover or R.I.P Society label release tickets for the End Of Financial Year Party are only $5!

If you hate going outside during record store opening ours you can paypal $10 to r.i.p.societyrecords@gmail.com . Make sure to specify if you want you moolah to go to Drunk Elk (great idea, these guys make cool music and should be encouraged) or half the $10 to go to another band.

OK HERE COMES THE TRULY REVOLUTIONARY PART……
As dual plover have let us choose how much we want to charge for tickets we (Joe, Ben and Nic) have compiled as list of things we’ll exchange for entry into the HAPPY NEW FINANCIAL YEAR PARTY. If you think you’ve got something or a skill we’d enjoy (like a free caricature, Slade 7”s etc) feel free to suggest it in the comment box down the bottom.

EACH ITEM IS WORTH ENTRY FOR ONE PERSON….
- Drumsticks (no cracks, any weight)
- One set of light gauge electric guitar strings
- One working guitar lead
- 2 Tooheys Old Long Necks
- 2 Franzinweiner Dark Brews
- 2 Happy hour pints at James Squire Brewery
- Fix our internet or just make the internet work on Bens computer
- 1 bottle of Head ‘n’ Shoulders Anti-Drandruff 2in1 Shampoo
- 3 cans of Dr Pepper
- 2 to 4 gigabite USB stick
- Access to screen printing set up / help us burn images into existing screens for t-shirt printing
- Screen printing squeegee
- *New* woollen socks
- Fix the lock on out front door
- A bag of old baseballs
- Assortment of labelled spices
- Mickey Dee’s family dinner box
- 1 large pizza (delivered?)
- Lend us a digital video camera for 2 weeks
- Casual employment (Saturday during the day) for Ben
- Cool DVD’s, videos etc (Rock ‘n’ Rule, Decline of Western Civ, Surf Nazis Must Die etc)
- 1 skull (must be bigger than your thumb)
- 10 AA batteries
- 3 9V batteries
- 50 clear 7” outer sleeves
- 20 BWBB badges
- Rage guest program spot
- Burns / dubs of hard to find music recordings… KBD style punk, Roky Erickson, Italian Hardcore, good private press pysch, analogue electronic experimental stuff (Broken Flag Records, M.B, Throbbing Gristle related stuff) or Samhain (Danzigs band after the Misfits, really want to hear their records after years of neglect!)
- Old punk fanzines
- Photocopies of article on The Misfits, Chrome, Replacements, Meat Puppets, GG Allin, early Aussie punk etc (you know the type of stuff we’re into)
- Books about freaks and deformities
- Fresh fruit/veg
- a cake or other sweets
- 1 Old Spice Classic Scent Deodorant (for Nic) AND one Brut deodorant (Joe)
- 2011 calendar of cats, dogs or extreme sports
- Notes / drawings by a member of the UV Race
- Coupons / vouchers (savings need to be upward of $10)
- Blender or microwave
- 2 x Xbox controllers
- Amusing t-shirts
- 12 tins of cat food (not home brand)

Not Accepted…
- Pure Blonde style beers
- Ciggies
- Poetry
- Drama TV shows DVD (except Desperate Housewives)
- Band demos
- Hard drugs
- Buy 1 get one 1 type vouchers

SUMMARY…
- Paypal $10 to r.i.p.societyrecords@gmail.com and state if you’d like to pay Drunk Elk or give $5 to another band.
- Drop $10 into Repressed Records (356 King St, Newtown) and let the handsome staff members know who gets the money. You might remember hearing about their debut 7” from a few years back, the very first release on Aarght Records (Eddy Current, UV Race, Super Wild Horses etc). I saw their second show three and a half years ago and haven't missed many since. At the time it seemed everything around me was no-wavey or post-something and these three young men playing powerful, honest-to-god rock music felt like the most ambitious, genuine thing around. Since they’ve become a more forceful unit having playing over 100 shows, honed their ability to write riffs that’ll stick to your skull and have taken the long road in recording, learning the ins and outs of an old 8-track ½” tape machine. Recorded, mixed and mastered by the themselves in guitarists David Akermans’ house, Go Home treads the line between your savage proto-punk, garage and heavy psychedelic rock that instantly feels familiar but jeez, I can‘t think of a band in recent times (or of yesteryear) that’d be an obvious comparison. Anyway these dudes feel like my local Stooges/Creedence/Minutemen.
Out April 27 through R.I.P Society. VINYL (and mp3 voucher) ONLY!

Tracklisting:
1. Sad day, but the man could no longer divide time between the trash cans and his studies. So as he leaves we wish him all the best in the future - tute on son, tute on! Not all bad news though, as a replacement has already been lined up and is ready to go. Kowalski, member of Peewee and main man from Marickville's finest party house Louie's, is our new dude in the chair. Y'can hear the lineup first on March 12th supporting our brothers Deaf Wish, alongside Straight Arrows at the Supper Club. Get in early to catch the new Farmers in action!

Dead Farmers debut LP "Go Home" is due out mid-April but knowing my luck that could anywhere between two weeks from now and 2015. Think indie rock before indie rock meant you were a sweater wearing nerd (aka Replacements, Dinosaur Jr, Meat Puppets) with undertones of glam (more Slade than Bowie), power pop and hard rock. Held together by wild guitar, overdriven bass lines and a lewd, punk attitude (definitely not college rock). You might recognise Joe as the bass player from Royal Headache, Nic as the guy that put the thing in his mouth in Circle Pit and Ben as an elite sporting hero.
http://www.myspace.com/bedwettinbadboys

SOUTHERN COMFORT
New band from Angela Bermuda (Circle Pit / Straight Arrows) and Harriet Hudson (Downtown / Circle Pit) playing timeless songs based around their hypnotic reverb soaked guitar sound and duel angelic vocals. A real Velvet Underground drone rock vibe with a classic rock/country flavour. First Melbourne tour!

P.S. Both gals play a mean lead guitar (like Neil Young mean) and are really good looking young blonde women.

WOOLLEN KITS
Local house band at the Empress for the weekend! These guys seem to get compared to is Beat Happening, which is fair and all but somewhat limiting. Woollen Kits surpass the “twee” thing because a) actually have good songs and b) they’ve got a stompin’ garage energy with some killer surf guitar lines. Would most likely appeal to fans of the Modern Lovers (i.e. pretty much everyone).
http://www.myspace.com/woollenkits

BITCH PREFECT
Three funs guys from Adelaide, one of which being the truly radical miracle that is Scott Ohara (also of Lindsey Low Hand). From the videos and all reports Pat and Liam are also totally bodacious dudes with moves worthy of your attention. Great off-beat, humbling guitar pop for fans of The Clean, Pavement, Eat Skull, Kitchen’s Floor.
http://www.myspace.com/bitchprefect
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSJ8k9YcWHI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiqU4RcEgsk&feature=related

Master of Ceremonies MARCUS RECHSTEINER of The UV Race will be hosting the event and helping everyone have a great time. With Marcus on board there is no doubt in my mind this will be a truly excellent rock show, one from the history books!

P.S. There’ll be a bunch of R.I.P Society Records releases on sale on the night. Alongside the new Bed Wettin’ Bad Boys 7” we’ll have the new Kitchen’s Floor - Regrets 7” for sale, a repress of Sydney garage-punks Straight Arrows debut 7” and the debut 7” from Royal Headache. The standard edition is a c60 then there's the die-hard 2xc60 edition. Lloyd will take a heap on these on his tour of Japan with Robbie Avanenaim in a couple of months. People in Melbourne should contact him direct for copies, hopefully I'll have soon (one-for-one dubbing sucks).

RIP006: Royal Headache 7"

Sorry this one's taking so long but it's worth the wait. Four tracks a heap of you are probably already familiar with: Splash, Surprise, Eloise & Girls. Embraced by young punk sceptical of all things garage as well as those annoying old dudes that spend all their money of rare Easybeats records. Royal Headache's music will warm the heart of even the crustiest old scrooge.

RIP007: Kitchen's Floor - Regrets 7"

Three new tracks: Orbit, Regrets & Still Night. Here's a video for Regrets and here's a video for Orbit. The third track Still Night is a real winner too, one of the most down of their downer hits. This EP won't disappoints those into their album "Loneliness Is A Dirty Mattress" from last year. A bit of a different sound, more raw and tattered which suits the hopeless atmosphere of these songs.

RIP008: Bed Wettin' Bad Boys - Worst Band In Sydney / Best Band In Sydney 7"

Think indie rock before indie rock meant you were a sweater wearing nerd (aka Replacements, Meat Puppets) with a heavy dose of suburban punk, overdriven guitars and a rowdy Australia quality about it. Not the most hip or liked band around probably because they off get too drunk and talk too much shit in between songs. Anyway this 7" delivers and shows that they can actually write good tunes.

RIP009: Dead Farmers - Go Home LP

Long awaited debut LP after being the first release on Aarght Records (Eddy Current, UV Race, Super Wild Horses etc) a couple of years ago. I saw their first or second show three and a half years ago and haven't missed many since. At the time it seemed everything around me was no-wavey or post-something and these three young men playing powerful, honest-to-god rock music felt like the most ambitious, genuine thing around. Somewhere between your garage punk and heavy pyschedelic rock (Groundhogs, Blue Cheer, Mainliner etc). These dudes feel like my local Stooges/Creedence/Minutemen.

RIP010: Straight Arrows - Can't Count 7" Repress

A split release with Juvenile Records aka Juvenile Society Records. A repress of 200 copies, I'll make up some covers for RIP's 100 copies and have them ready in about a fortnight. If you want one now more info here. Listen to the Straight Arrows here. Definitely a highlights of Australian punk/garage over the last few years.

RIP011: Languid Mosque Zine

A Royal Headache / Bed Wettin' Bad Boy tour diary. Pretty much writing about the tour and some topics that came up in the car/at the shows etc. Although nobody submitted any stories about punk rock under Premier Joh Beljelke-Petersen's I'll still look into it. Probably some crude drawings/collages and contributions from other band members.

NOTE: I'll be offering some type of package deal for the Royal Headache, Kitchen's Floor & Bed Wettin' Bad Boys 7" that'll include Languid Mosque Zine. Maybe some special covers etc. More details once I get the text pressings back!

Shops/distros or anyone who waits more information (radio, media etc) get in touch at r.i.p.societyrecords@gmail.com .

....

Promise I'll get better at updating this thing soon..... Everyone loves this album cause it's great, they blew everyone's mind in Sydney a couple of weekends ago.

JAKEB SMITH AT RAVE MAGAZINE IN BRISBANE SAID THIS:
"Left creates a cannily concise pop song through the rhythmic delivery of its only two lines "I was happy / Left me here", while the band’s rumble veers almost imperceptibly beneath. With a fucking tambourine solo for the middle eight, this is the best minimalist pop song I’ve heard in ages. The record is full of such gems, drowned in detuned guitar and Kennedy’s weary yowl, which rears-up in inefficient spasms of energy."

Shaun Prescott at Mess&Noise had many nice things to say as did a Joe Luna at Foxy Digitalis....
Check out the videos for Left and Orbit....

THIS WEEK IN SYDNEY...

WEDNESDAY.... Saw them a couple of weeks ago in Brisbane and by-george it was bloody good. Velvet Underground/early Sonic Youth/Parson Sound drone rock. Add some hard boogie bass a la Chrome or Hawkwind, heavy synth and some creepy egyptian/surf/death rock Rikk Agnew style guitar lines and you've got a top band. Not one paisley shirt / JAMC looking sunglasses-at-night fag in the band. Genuine people, genuine music!

KITCHEN'S FLOOR (Bris). Shit a brick these guys can write some tunes! Guitarist Matt Kennedy was also the man behind the also excellent band Look!Pond. No frills lo-fi guitar, bass and drums pop songs. Great mix of potential pop hits, weirdo eastern-y sounding guitar bits and big-small-town teen awkwardness. Sounds exactly like Brisbane. Would probably fit in with your modern day Siltbreeze stuff or Urinals style crud-rock pretty nicely... or maybe like Nirvana or something. Launching his debut album "Loneliness Is A Dirty Matress".

WASTED TRUTH (Melb). If you've got a massive boner for the darker, weirder, heavier side of US hardcore and the forgotten outsider stuff that happened between hardcore and "the year that punk broke" Wasted Truth are for you. A real Flipper, No Trend, Drunks With Guns, Flux of Pink Indians, The Gordons, Germs cult kind of vibe going on. Sean William Bailey (aka Lakes) on the bass and Harriet Kate Morgan on the drums (the most intense drummer).

-------------------------------------
FRIDAY AUGUST 14.FREE INSTORE @ REPRESSED RECORDS.
356 KING ST, NEWTOWN. 6PM
WASTED TRUTH (Melb, read above for selling points)
PEE WEE (Members of Dead Farmers & Straight Arrows. I started thinking about / writing the first couple of entries when under house arrest from swine flu but wasn't until I was that I saw the labels first print ad (with this url listed) that I realised I should get shit happening....

R.I.P Society is a record label from Sydney, Australia. Funded by saving from Centrelink Newstart / Youth Allowance payments and part time record store work. Specialising in Australian music of the non Fitzroy cafe, late 20's dinner party, chin-scratchin'-black-rimmed -glasses-gimme-arts-funding variety. Black Flag are probably the best band ever.

Issue two of Sydney based music journal Mountain Fold is out now. Articles on Sean Bailey (aka Lakes), Philip Brophey, Circle Pit, The Dead C, Wet Hair & Woods. Circle Pit and Lakes were the first two R.I.P Society Records releases so no doubt I'm going to tell you it's great (it actually is though). Pick it up for free from Repressed Records in Sydney or Missing Link in Melbourne. It's free and pretty. I picked up a whole heap of zines this week that should be available from these two stores. Look out for SSEX (interviews with Chrome Dome & NOTV), Distort, Pederast Prophet, Niche Home vol. 1 & 2 and Human Being Lawnmower. Haven't got a copy yet but looking forward to Negative Guest List issue 2 (Royal Headache & Bed Wettin' Bad Boys are on the CD comp along with pre-Pink Reason band Hate Fuck, the Seizures, Puerto Rico Flowers etc) and Stained Sheets.
